The Original Norwich Chapter – founded 2006

ABOUT US

Growing old disgracefully and loving every minute.  You don’t know what you’re missing.

The RED HAT SOCIETY began some years ago as a result of one feisty woman, Sue Ellen Cooper, and a few of her friends, deciding to greet middle age with humour and a touch of class! Having discovered Jenny Joseph's poem "Warning"©, they celebrated the Big Fifty by going out for tea together dressed in Purple with Red Hats, and so was born the international "Dis-organisation" that now has over a million members in 29 different countries - around 100 "chapters" (as individual groups are called) in the UK alone.

As if that degree of success were not enough, in April 2011 Sue Ellen's original Red Hat, which started off this phenomenal network of fantastic females, was installed in the world-famous Smithsonian Institute as a testament to all women, past, present and future, determined to junk the stereotypes and refusing to let age get in the way of having a good time. We'll go on enjoying life to the full, whatever it throws at us!

The NORFOLK BROADS have been having riotous frolics together in our Purple and Red since 2006, and Fun and Friendship is our only aim, spreading colour and cheer wherever we go.

So raise your glasses, everyone, and stand back in amazement because HERE COME THE GIRLS - and they're......

SIMPLY THE BEST!
