...how could us Norfolk Broads not do the Norfolk Broads on Norfolk Day!!!!
“All Aboard” at the Bure Valley Narrow Guage railway from Aylsham.....all giggling
and chatting like young Railway Children....
...rumbling, swaying and clattering our way through our beautiful Norfolk countryside,
golden fields of wheat, barley, corn and even corn-on-the-cob. Hedgerows already
showing signs of swelling blackberries. How lucky are we to live in such a beautiful
area....Norfolk! Our Beloved Norfolk!!
...we’re all relieved the weather is cooler as we make our way with a “short” walk
to our waiting boat....
...we settle in, some up top others inside nearer the bar!! We marvel at the stunning
thatched residences along the water edge - and try to decide which one to buy when
we win the lottery! Masses of yellow and white water lilies lined our route and
we spot, to name but a few, Cormorants, Crested Grebes, elegant Swans with their
youngsters, Black Headed Gulls, even a Marsh Harrier and a Heron. Who would want
to be anywhere else on Norfolk Day?
...so we sit back and relax up the river and down the river...ending with a late
lunch at “the Pub” (surprise! surprise!) and a riotous sing-song on the train back
to Aylsham......to the delight of the train driving staff...
